The perfect candidate will have a strong background in strategic planning, space force design, studies and analysis, and communications ability to convey complex ideas in a manner that is consumable by your average operator as well as congressional staffer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, coordinate, and maintain Chief of Space Operations Force Design. Update the Force Design periodically throughout the year and conduct a formal annual coordination cycle of the Force Design.
  • • Base the Force Design on quantitative and qualitative technical analysis to support recommendations.
  • Provide technical leadership as an Analysis and Assessment SME, leveraging systems engineering principles, quantitative and qualitative methodologies, and performance metrics to assess mission effectiveness and inform decision-making; synthesize and translate complex technical analyses into compelling messaging, visualizations, graphics, and presentation materials for technical and senior leadership audiences.
  • Assist in USSF/SWAC strategic planning, requirements analysis, and architecture development using analytic methods across multiple space missions. Conduct space-related studies and analysis to evaluate current and projected space forces, conduct capability gap analysis, and leverage available intelligence to support the recommendation of future USSF architectures and space weapons systems.
  • Apply knowledge of existing, planned, and programmed USSF capabilities, including, but not limited to, command, control and communication (C3); data transportation and data management; position, navigation, and timing/NAVWAR; space domain awareness; missile warning, tracking, and defense; environmental monitoring; intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance; counterspace; and logistics and sustainment.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies and methodologies into space architectures.
  • Assess proposed changes to USSF infrastructure and architecture to ensure that proposed future constellations and system-of-systems are architecturally sound, meet requirements and standards, strategies and guidance, and are maintainable.
  • Perform mission unique trade space analysis for on-orbit and associated ground systems.  These trades space analyses include, but are not limited to, quantitative analysis of system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Present results of multi-factor optimization balancing system performance factors from multiple missions.
  • Trace, document, and coordinate USSF space system requirements.
  • Shape annual planning deliberations and planning choice selection. Formalize mission and system performance parameters into formal requirements.
  • Maintain rigorous configuration control and attention to detail across analytical studies, ensuring consistency, traceability, and integrity of assumptions, inputs, methodologies, and results across multiple analysis versions and related efforts.
  • Develop and tailor compelling, data-driven messaging that effectively communicates the strengths, tradeoffs, and operational value of proposed force design Courses of Action (COAs) to diverse stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Apply Space policy and doctrine to inform analytical framework and model design, while identifying doctrinal or policy gaps, inconsistencies, and emerging requirements that impact force design assessments.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Delta 10, Delta 4, Program Analysis and Evaluation (PA&E) organizations, CAPE, and other stakeholders to ensure analytical approaches, assumptions, and recommendations are aligned with operational, doctrinal, and strategic priorities.
