TITLE: Applications Support & IDoc Analyst

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to provide technical support and administrative services for ERP (SAP) and Packaged Applications. This includes security and iDoc administration as well as the installation, administration, and maintenance for purchased and related interfaces.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Provides technical expertise in the administration and ongoing operational support of purchased software. Monitors, tunes, diagnoses, and resolves application problems.
  • Works with vendor for vendor supported applications, serving as the technical liaison between the vendor and internal customers. May conduct initial troubleshooting of issues before contacting vendor.
  • Develops technical and user instructions and documentation and may provide training on new or changed applications for team members and business areas.
  • Provides advice, guidance, and assistance to team members and business areas on matters related to the implementation and operation of automated information processing solutions.
  • Analyzes, defines, and documents system requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware, and operating system environment, interfacing with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.
  • Works with business owners to develop SAP security roles to satisfy business process requirements as defined by user roles.
  • Provides operational support related to SAP security issues.
  • Provides primary system administration and day-to-day operational support of iDocs.
  • Defines and develops interface mappings for iDocs.
  • Identifies root causes for new problems as well as recurring issues; gathers and documents functional requirements to determine resolution.
  • Performs qualify assurance analysis and testing for updates to EDI and E-Commerce software products.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the direction of an Information Technology Manager who defines goals and guidelines for the group. Work assignments are in the form of areas of responsibility and are typically generally defined.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

May provide direction to other technical professionals and user professionals assigned to a specific project. May serve as a trainer.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. On-going education in information technology desirable.

Experience

  • Three (3) years plus experience working with SAP iDocs and application support.
  • Experience providing production support to end users.
  • Experience working on technical projects and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Configuration and support of SAP iDoc structures, designing, constructing, and troubleshooting interface programs. Ability to create scripts.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and initiate ongoing process improvement and self-improvement through continuous learning.
  • Desired – experience with security role and authorization administration.
  • Desired – basic understanding of Supply Chain/Manufacturing line of business.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Skill in conducting tests, writing documents, implementing and support applications while working with vendors or development staff.
  • Demonstrated skill working with current programming technology such as database integration (MS SQL SERVER), client/server technology, or cloud computing. Specific application knowledge may include but is not limited to SAP, iDocs, Esker, FIS/ec, and Trakland.
  • Skill in providing technical assistance to others, both operationally and for specific projects.
  • Skill in translating functional requirements into technical design for SAP security roles.
  • Skill in providing training one-on-one or in a group setting.
  • Skill in handling multiple and moderately sized assignments.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Language Skills:

Must be able to understand, read, write, and communicate in English. Highly effective communications skills both verbal and written are essential.

Reasoning Ability:

This incumbent in this position is characterized by possession of good decision-making skills, good interpersonal skills, and effective capacity for giving and receiving instruction. Required considerable analysis of complex facts as well as the ability to assimilate new information rapidly.

Physical Demands:

Occasional lifting of objects up to 25 pounds.
