Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with EHS, GMP, quality system, and Johnson & Johnson standards.
- Lead daily operations of the Jacksonville In-House Spare Parts Rebuild & Manufacturing team supporting ACUVUE® contact lens manufacturing operations.
- Prioritize manufacturing, refurbishment, and rebuild activities based on production criticality, equipment downtime risk, part lead time, and business need.
- Develop and sustain standardized manufacturing, repair, reverse engineering, inspection, documentation, and rebuild procedures.
- Oversee machining, fabrication, additive manufacturing, refurbishment, assembly, and rebuilding of critical spare parts and obsolete components.
- Ensure manufactured and rebuilt components meet engineering specifications, quality requirements, documentation expectations, and approved use criteria.
- Partner with Engineering, Reliability, Maintenance, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, Finance, EHS, and Global Asset Care to align priorities and remove barriers.
- Use CMMS, inventory, failure history, and production-impact data to identify critical parts for rebuild, repair, refurbishment, or local manufacturing strategies.
- Improve equipment reliability and manufacturing resilience through faster local recovery of critical replacement components.
- Drive inventory accuracy, spare parts availability, obsolescence mitigation, cost avoidance, and total cost of ownership improvement.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing, 5S, standard work, visual management, and continuous improvement initiatives within the rebuild operation.
- Coach, develop, and hold team members accountable for safety, quality, compliance, technical execution, productivity, and performance.
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, Mechanical Technology, Engineering Technology, Business Management, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent military or technical experience may be considered in lieu of an associate degree.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, maintenance, reliability, machining, fabrication, mechanical repair, or a related technical field.
- Working knowledge of machining, fabrication, assembly, electromechanical equipment, precision component rebuilding, or industrial repair processes.
- Experience coordinating daily work activities, prioritizing workloads, allocating resources, and delivering results in a fast-paced manufacturing operation.
- Experience using a computerized maintenance management system, preferably Maximo; SAP experience is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to develop standard work, inspection criteria, quality controls, documentation practices, and continuous improvement routines.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, prioritization, communication, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Working knowledge of FDA, ISO, GMP, and manufacturing compliance expectations within a regulated production environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred:
- Experience establishing, scaling, or leading an internal spare parts rebuild, repair, machining, fabrication, or manufacturing operation.
- Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or other FDA-regulated manufacturing environments.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt, or other continuous improvement certification.
- Knowledge of Reliability-Centered Maintenance, Asset Care principles, spare parts governance, and obsolescence mitigation strategies.
- Experience supporting high-speed automated manufacturing equipment.
