Job Details

Fall 2026 – Spring 2027
Jefferson Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute
Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University

The Jefferson Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute (JMRRI), part of Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation and Thomas Jefferson University, seeks a faculty scientist to develop and lead a research program aligned with the Institute's focus on human translational neuroscience and neurorehabilitation. The successful candidate will receive a tenure-track appointment in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. We seek applicants with a PhD and demonstrated research productivity and independence, though candidates at all career stages are encouraged to apply. MDs and clinician-scientists with a substantial research track record will also be considered. This opening represents an outstanding opportunity to work with leading researchers in a well-established, growing, and vibrant environment.

Job Description

The position includes dedicated laboratory and testing space at the Institute, located on the Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation Hospital campus in Elkins Park, PA. The successful candidate will benefit from JMRRI's strong track record of clinical-researchintegration and opportunities to collaborate across laboratories studying cognition, emotion, language, and motor control in acute and degenerative neurologic conditions. Comprehensive core resources include regulatory support, recruitment infrastructure, and state-of-the-art neuromodulation, EEG, motion capture, and robotics equipment. Neuroimaging is accessible at multiple Jefferson Health System sites and through established partnerships with the University of Pennsylvania. Research recruitment is supported, in part, by JMRRI's Research Registry of 2,000+ individuals with stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and Parkinson's Disease, supplemented by the Moss TBI Model Systems database of 1,600+ well-characterized TBI participants.

Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation and JMRRI are part of Jefferson Health, one of Philadelphia's largest health systems, with faculty appointments through Thomas Jefferson University. The position offers access to a broad research infrastructure, including biostatistics, scientific writing support, and established basic and clinical neuroscience programs. We offer competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package including medical/dental/vision coverage, generous vacation, pension, and malpractice insurance. Jefferson Health is an equal opportunity employer; JMRRI values diversity and strongly encourages applications from underrepresented groups.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter detailing research interests and future directions, CV, and contact information for 3 references via email to Kevin Whelihan: Kevin.Whelihan@jefferson.edu

Applications received before October 16, 2026, will receive full consideration. Review will continue on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
