Job Details

The Genetic Counselor II is a lead resource regarding genetics for patients, healthcare providers and our community. Provides all aspects of genetic counseling including extensive family history, counseling patients and/or families regarding suspected hereditary syndromes, recommending gene testing when appropriate and explaining results to patients with recommendations for screening and risk reduction. Provides education for students enrolled in GC programs and mentors new genetic counselors. Participates in genetic research and community education as well as clinical committees which help to drive quality care.

Job Description

  • Implements core GC skills and competencies
  • Proficient in utilizations of EMR
  • Presents patients at weekly case conference
  • On-board and supervise new GC and GCA staff
  • Opportunity to participate in clinical research .25% effort
  • Assists in planning and implementation of clinical practice and education with Medical and Administrative Director
  • Precept GC Master Level students
  • Obtain Adjunct Faculty position in TJU Human Genome and Genetic Counseling Graduate Program and/or another academic institution
  • Participates in Service Line committees
  • Initiates and participates in Community Education
  • Role of lead resource regarding cancer genetics for referring and treatment team providers
  • Implements clinical practice independently or minimal supervision

Education:

Master’s Level degree in Genetic Counseling

AND

Experience:

3- 5 years’ experience.  Boarded and licensed experience required.

Board Certified Genetic Counselor, Licensed in PA and NJ and Delaware if indicated
