Jefferson Health seeks an Associate Chief Medical Information Officer for the North Region.

Job Description


A physician leader responsible for medical informatics and serves as an advocate for patients and as a regional voice of the provider to guide critical decision-making regarding direction and user experience of technology solutions, including thought leadership around new innovations aligned with the strategic goals and objectives of the medical enterprise. In conjunction with other informatics leaders, this position is responsible for driving enterprise and divisional standardization of the use and adoption of technology solutions and associated workflows to promote high quality, safe, and efficient patient-centered care. This role leverages significant leadership presence and diplomacy to obtain appropriate balance between standardization and provider personalization. The incumbent will message the "why and how" a certain technology advances productivity, quality, and wellbeing, and does so through various committees, clinical initiatives, as well as significant and frequent informal interactions.

Job Duties

  • Provide clinical leadership with the design, implementation, adoption and meaningful use of Jefferson Health’s advanced health information technology platform. Engage care providers in the development, integration and use of the organization’s systems.
  • In partnership with the informatics team, acts as a catalyst for organizational change to influence others to translate vision into action. Brings about strategic change, both within and outside the organization, to meet organizational goals.
  • Makes decisions that produce high-quality results by applying technical knowledge, analyzing problems, and calculating risks.
  • Provides leadership both directly and indirectly to physicians and other clinicians in the adoption, development, integration and use of the organization’s systems
  • Work closely with analysts and clinical IS&T staff to provide valuable insights on data collected from customers. Manage strategic partnerships with key institutions. Build relationships with potential customers to gain support of IT initiatives.
  • In partnership with the informatics team and other leaders, drive Jefferson Health to increase value by improving the health of populations while improving the patient experience and reducing health care costs. Promote the use of Jefferson Health’s IS&T systems to improve the work life of clinicians and staff. Represent the needs and requirements of the regional physician community and serve as an advocate of management in promoting the use of information technology in the clinical setting.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Medical Degree
  • 5 years practice in a clinical area as a clinician providing direct patient care as a physician and
  • 3 years knowledge and experience in EHR management and informatics.
  • Understands and applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to clinical informatics expertise.
  • Deep understanding of clinical workflows across inpatient, outpatient, and specialty care.
  • Knowledge of clinical decision support systems and EHR.
  • Adept at using data driven performance improvement.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations and care delivery models.
  • Strong customer service skills and change management capabilities.
  • Awareness of legal, ethical, and governance issues in health IT.
  • Proven ability to lead interdisciplinary teams (clinicians, IT, operations), especially in a change environment.
  • ML - Medical License - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire


Preferred Qualifications

  • 7 years practice as a physician.
  • Knowledge of Telehealth and remote monitoring and digital therapeutics and patient engagement tools.
  • Ability to effectively lead change through change management frameworks and stakeholder engagement.
  • Consultative and strong ability to partner across clinical care teams and nursing.

    Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
