Position Summary:

Under the clinical direction of the Psychologist, the incumbent is responsible for the provision of comprehensive psychological assessment services across the lifespan. Duties include the administration and scoring of standardized psychological tests, gathering clinical information through structured and semi-structured interviews, and the preparation of clear, comprehensive psychological assessment reports suitable for clients, families, schools, physicians, and other professionals.

The position of Psychological Assistant functions in a manner consistent with, and supports the mission, vision and values of the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in psychology from a recognized university required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of testing procedures, test forms and materials used in psychological assessment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychological test interpretation.
  • Minimum one-year recent related clinical experience working with adults, children and adolescents.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with patients of all ages.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Manitoba driver’s license.
  • Mental and physical ability to meet the demands of the position.
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to communicate in more than one language would be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
