PHP Technical Consultant - REDCap Server Upgrade

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a technical consultant with strong PHP server administration experience to support an upgrade of the PHP environment on a healthcare system’s REDCap servers. In this role, the consultant will assess the current server environment and PHP configuration supporting the REDCap installation, plan and execute a secure upgrade of the PHP runtime to a supported version compatible with REDCap, and validate the compatibility of required PHP extensions and dependencies. The consultant will update system packages, web server configuration (Apache/Nginx), and any related components as needed, then thoroughly test REDCap functionality post-upgrade to ensure continued stability and performance. They will troubleshoot and resolve any compatibility issues that arise during or after the upgrade, coordinate timing to minimize downtime and disruption to end users, and document all changes while providing recommendations for ongoing maintenance and future upgrades

Skills and Requirements

Required:

• Strong experience with PHP administration and production version upgrades
• Proven understanding of PHP modules, extensions, and dependency management
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting application compatibility issues following PHP upgrades
• Prior experience supporting REDCap environments
• Familiarity administering PHP in a Windows Server environment
• Ability to independently plan, execute, and validate production PHP upgrades with minimal oversight

Experience accounting for backup, rollback, and risk mitigation considerations during upgrades
