Your Opportunity
Working under the general direction of the Director, Information Technology, the incumbent will be responsible for the effective and timely implementation of new systems and technologies, including the planning, design, analysis, security, disaster recovery, support and maintenance of the overall networks and computing facilities. The incumbent will act as a technical resource responsible for the deployment of information technology solutions and will also participate in development projects regarding the application of new technologies at the University.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Planning and implementing expansion and enhancement of IT networks independently.
- Designing and reviewing highly complex virtual computing and storage infrastructure.
- Analyzing, troubleshooting and testing highly complex systems.
- Developing and updating architectural framework for highly complex and confidential IT systems.
- Serving as a resource on specific issues to a group of specialists.
- Advising on cost, feasibility and impact of different implementation solutions.
- Developing and editing standard operating procedures for IT services.
- Monitoring accounts for a project and/or program, and leading and planning IT projects.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five years relevant experience in a network and systems administrator capacity working in a complex, highly networked and heterogeneous environment.
- In depth advanced experience with Linux and Windows servers; proven experience in network planning, design and implementation.
- Minimum two (2) years of proven experience with complex, diverse, structured research computing intake and support in an academic environment; Proven experience with Data Centre IT is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with deploying and configuring virtualized environments including VDI, and containers.
- Experience with back-up and storage administration, configuration, and trouble shooting.
- Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
- Must have in-depth experience working with a range of computing environments, equipment and software including cloud technologies, Unix/Linux (workstations, servers), Windows (servers, terminal services), Internet services (email, Samba, etc.), networking and security, virtualized servers (proxmox).

- Experience with SentinelOne Security Platform.
- Familiarity with HP/Aruba network devices.
- Familiarity with the University environment, governance, and policies.
