Position Overview

The Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto in collaboration with the Division of Geriatric Medicine, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre seeks to recruit a qualified academic geriatrician and Division Director. The Division Director will lead clinical services, undergraduate and postgraduate educational activities, and promote scholarly activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the clinical services, undergraduate and postgraduate educational activities, and promote scholarly activities.
  • Deliver clinical care and administrative responsibilities, along with research, teaching, and/or quality improvement activities aligned with the candidate’s academic focus.
  • Lead the division of Geriatric Medicine, comprising 7 full‑time academic geriatricians.

Qualifications

  • MD degree and, or eligibility for, certification in Geriatric Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
  • Full‑time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto, or Assistant Professor with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Outstanding reputation in clinical research, education, or knowledge translation.
  • Demonstrated clinical excellence in geriatric medicine and sophisticated interpersonal and communication skills.

Benefits

Estimated remuneration in the range of $300,000 - $400,000, commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. Eligible for Ontario Geriatric Medicine AFP. Participation in Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association benefit plans, including group medical, dental and life insurance.
