About the Role
We are actively seeking a Contracts Specialist to join the Côté Gold Mine Site, reporting to the Supply Chain Manager. This role will support the engagement of third‑party services required for Côté Gold operations, with a strong focus on building strong business partnerships and administration functionality. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills to engage effectively with internal stakeholders and a solid understanding of contract terminology. The role requires a commercially astute mindset who can lead sourcing activities, negotiate contract terms, and collaborate closely with Legal and senior leadership. Key responsibilities include championing change‑management initiatives and driving the adoption of best‑practice contract management processes, while enabling effective contract administration for site‑based teams. The role is also accountable for ensuring contract compliance by enabling processes to support the lowest total cost of ownership. This position is site‑based at the Cote Gold Mine (Gogama, ON) and follows a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation. Preference will be given to candidates based in the Sudbury and Timmins regions, although this is not a mandatory requirement.
Responsibilities
- Contractual Oversight & Compliance: Lead the legal and commercial oversight of all agreements, ensuring suppliers strictly adhere to established terms, conditions, and quality standards.
- Financial Control & Auditing: Manage cost controls by auditing invoices, monitoring pricing, and overseeing progress payments, milestones, holdbacks, and mobilization/demobilization costs.
- Relationship & Performance Management: Develop strategic supplier relationships and monitor performance through regular reviews to ensure service levels meet internal customer needs.
- Change & Claims Management: Direct the Field Work Instruction (FWI) and Change Order processes, taking the lead on resolving commercial non‑compliance and claims management.
- Strategic Advisory: Act as a key partner to production and internal departments, providing guidance on best agreement practices, strategic planning, and scheduling.
- Mentorship & Team Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert for the Supply Chain Team, providing mentorship, setting performance expectations, and identifying future training needs.
- Information & Records Management: Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date contractual documentation and reports to ensure full transparency and compliance with regulatory policies.
- Process Improvement & Collaboration: Collaborate with Global Supply Chain resources to share information while recommending innovative approaches to enhance existing contract methodologies.
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Post‑Secondary Education in Business / Supply Chain Services.
- SCMP / CIPS certification is considered an asset.
- Previous experience with Oracle ERP system is preferred.
Relevant Experience
- Minimum 7 years’ experience supporting complex contract negotiations and administration.
- Mining Industry knowledge is beneficial.
- General knowledge of computerized contracts systems and tracking with good data processing skills.
- General knowledge of contracts management, logistics, transportation, and governmental regulations related to contracts.
- Experience working within First Nations structured arrangements.
