Job Description

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking an experienced Interim Non‑Profit Accounting Manager to provide hands‑on accounting leadership during a transitional period. This role will oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, manage and support a small accounting team, and ensure timely and accurate month‑end close activities. Experience with Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and review month‑end close activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage and review bank reconciliations
  • Oversee and maintain fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules
  • Review accounts payable processing, cash disbursements, and vendor reconciliations
  • Supervise and mentor a Staff Accountant and AP Coordinator, providing guidance and ensuring workload prioritization
  • Ensure compliance with non‑profit accounting standards and internal controls
  • Support audit preparation and respond to auditor requests as needed
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen controls

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including non‑profit accounting
  • Prior experience in a managerial or supervisory accounting role
  • Strong knowledge of month‑end close, bank reconciliations, AP, and fixed assets
  • Experience with Dynamics GP / Great Plains highly preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to step into an interim role quickly and operate independently
