Labour Relations Specialist
Our broader public sector client is seeking an experienced Labour Relations Specialist for a short-term assignment.
The Project Manager will work closely with HR, leadership, and union stakeholders to support the implementation of collective agreements, manage complex labour relations projects, and drive resolution of workplace matters.
You will oversee labour relations deliverables, provide strategic guidance, and ensure alignment with collective agreements, Ontario labour legislation, and organizational priorities. The role will also focus on strengthening labour–management relationships and supporting key organizational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead labour relations projects, including implementation of collective agreements and related initiatives
- Provide guidance to managers and HR teams on grievances, discipline, and contract interpretation
- Partner with leadership and union representatives to address complex workplace issues
- Support labour relations strategy, reporting, and process improvements
- Coordinate and manage timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communications across projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field
- 7+ years of progressive labour relations experience in a unionized environment
- Demonstrated experience leading projects or initiatives within labour relations
- Strong knowledge of Ontario labour legislation and collective bargaining practices
- Professional HR designation (CHRP/CHRL) is an asset
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-based environment
