JOB DESCRIPTION – HEAD TECHNICIAN

Position: Head Technician

Locations: Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Balangir, Bargarh, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Sonepur & Sambalpur, Odisha

Department: Maintenance / Workshop Operations

Qualification: Degree or Advanced Diploma in Automobile Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Experience: 3–5 Years

Salary: ₹31,040 per month

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and technically competent Head Technician to lead workshop operations and ensure high-quality vehicle maintenance and repair services. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising technicians, reducing vehicle downtime, maintaining workshop efficiency, and ensuring timely completion of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities1. Vehicle Maintenance & Repair

• Ensure timely maintenance, servicing, and repair of vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and ensure high-quality repairs.
• Monitor preventive and breakdown maintenance to maximize vehicle availability.
• Ensure adherence to maintenance schedules and manufacturer guidelines.

2. Workshop Operations Management

• Oversee day-to-day workshop activities for smooth operations.
• Allocate jobs efficiently among technicians and monitor work progress.
• Ensure proper utilization of tools, equipment, and workshop resources.
• Maintain workshop safety, cleanliness, and operational standards.

3. Team Supervision & Skill Development

• Lead, supervise, and motivate workshop technicians.
• Monitor technician productivity and work quality.
• Conduct on-the-job training and technical skill development sessions.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies.

4. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain service records, job cards, maintenance history, and spare parts consumption.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly workshop reports.
• Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement requirements.
• Analyze maintenance performance and recommend improvements.

• Vehicle Downtime Reduction (%)
• Technician Productivity (%)
• Spare Parts Cost Variance

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, engine systems, suspension, transmission, braking systems, and electrical diagnostics.
• Hands-on experience in workshop management and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Good reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and maintenance reporting.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Degree or Advanced Diploma in Automobile Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in vehicle maintenance, workshop operations, or fleet maintenance.
• Experience in supervising workshop teams and ensuring operational efficiency.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple maintenance activities simultaneously.
• Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance best practices.
