Most SDR postings are vague because the role is a dead end. This one isn't. At Heavy Hammer, Business Development is the on-ramp, not the destination. How fast you move up is up to you and your experience: proven sales reps who can run a script and send quality transfers have moved into Inside Sales in as little as 2–4 weeks. If you're newer to sales, expect to spend longer in BD building the fundamentals, usually a few months, before you make that jump. Either way, the path is real and the door is open.
And Inside Sales is where the money is: our top performers are trending $150K–$280K this year, and our lowest full sales rep is clearing around $100K. One experienced rep we hired in early May is already #2 in sales.
If you can pick up a phone, run a script, and outwork the room, we'll get you there. If you want to coast, this isn't the place.

What the SDR Role Actually Is
We're upfront so you know exactly what you're signing up for:
- You'll make outbound calls to real estate agents and loan officers — about 35 dials an hour on our dialer, sourced by county from realtor.com
- You'll run a short script (about one paragraph) to spark interest and warm up the lead
- Your goal is 7–10 quality live transfers a day to our inside sales team
- It's high-volume phone work. It's a grind. The reps who win here are consistent, coachable, and don't get rattled by rejection
- Prove you can do it; memorize the script, send quality transfers, and hit your numbers consistently, and you earn your move into Inside Sales. Experienced closers move fast; newer reps build up to it over a few months. The timeline is earned, not given.
Compensation
- Base: $15–$19/hour depending on experience
- Commission: earn commission on top of your hourly as you generate results
- Daily incentives: cash spiffs throughout the day (e.g., bonuses for your first transfers of the day) — roughly $1,500+/month extra
- Realistic SDR year-one: $50K–$60K — but the whole point is to move you into Inside Sales, where the earning power jumps significantly (commission up to 20%, setup-fee commission, and a monthly stretch bonus up to $3,000, on top of your hourly)
- Paid bi-weekly (first check of the month is hourly; second includes commission and incentives)
Schedule & Setup
- Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Eastern — no nights, weekends, or overtime
- Fully remote (we have ~25 local employees; leadership goes in ~2 days/week, never required, though office time tends to speed up your progression)
- You provide your equipment: computer with 16GB RAM, dual monitors, a headset, and hardwired internet (or 65+ Mbps Wi-Fi)
- Quiet, dedicated home workspace
