Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Appointment Coordinator / Insurance Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical office experience, excellent knowledge of health insurance policies, and proficiency in managing electronic health records. This role involves coordinating patient appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and ensuring compliance with confidentiality policies, all while delivering exceptional service to our patients and providers.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments efficiently using electronic health records (EHR) systems, ensuring optimal utilization of clinic resources.
• Verify insurance coverage and benefits accurately, including managed care plans, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and other medical coding requirements.
• Proficiency with various insurance carrier verification platforms and experienced in medical terminology and communications.
• Communicate effectively with patients and referring office regarding insurance procedures, appointment details, and necessary documentation.
• Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies when handling medical records and patient information.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate appointment times and ensure smooth patient flow throughout the facility.

Requirements

• Proven experience working in a medical office environment, preferably within radiology practices.
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
• Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems, and medical coding procedures.
• Experience verifying insurance benefits and managing health insurance claims processes within managed care environments.
• Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) management systems.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in handling medical records and appointment scheduling.
• Effective communication skills for interacting professionally with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
• Knowledge of health insurance policies and billing procedures related to diagnostic imaging is preferred.
• Must have an appreciation for excellence in customer service!
