Job Overview:
One month contract, with possibility to extend.
We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Rigger / Forklift Operator to support our team in the relocation and installation of industrial equipment across various job sites in the Greater Toronto Area. This role involves working with equipment of varying sizes, weights, and complexity, and requires precision, safety awareness, and strong teamwork.
The Rigger / Forklift Operator will report directly to the Foreman and assist in executing project plans involving heavy lifts, machinery moves, and site setup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely rig, lift, move, and position industrial equipment and machinery using appropriate rigging methods and equipment.
- Operate Class 4 and Class 5 forklifts to handle and transport loads of varying size and weight.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of rigging equipment and materials on-site.
- Support the crew in machinery alignment and positioning tasks.
- Perform pre-operational inspections of forklifts and rigging gear to ensure proper function and safety.
- Work collaboratively with the foreman and millwrights to execute job plans and meet project deadlines.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Adapt to different work environments and site conditions across the GTA.
- Communicate effectively with team members and follow instructions accurately.
Requirements
- Valid Class 4 and Class 5 forklift operator certification (required).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in rigging and forklift operation in an industrial or construction setting.
- Strong understanding of rigging practices, load handling, and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret basic instructions, lift plans, and equipment placement drawings.
- Physically fit and able to perform demanding tasks including lifting, pushing, pulling, and working in various site conditions.
- Ability to work at different job sites throughout the GTA; reliable transportation is required.
- A safety-first mindset with knowledge of workplace safety regulations and best practices.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 1 month
Pay: From $35.00 per hour
