About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Production Manager who can take complete ownership of day-to-day manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will lead production teams, achieve daily production targets, optimize wood utilization, maintain high quality standards, and ensure timely dispatch of customer orders.

You will lead a production team of 30–60 employees, including carpenters, machine operators, helpers, and supervisors, while driving operational excellence, productivity, and continuous improvement across the factory.

Reporting To: Managing Director / Operations Head

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys solving production challenges, managing people, and continuously improving factory performance.

Key Responsibilities

● Own the complete production performance of the assigned factory, including productivity, quality, manpower, material yield, safety, and on-time dispatch.

● Plan, supervise, and monitor daily production activities to achieve production targets.

● Manage complete shop floor operations for wooden pallets, export boxes, crates, skids, and customized industrial packaging.

● Lead and supervise carpenters, machine operators, helpers, and production staff.

● Allocate manpower efficiently to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.

● Ensure products are manufactured according to approved drawings, customer specifications, and quality standards.

● Monitor raw material consumption and improve wood utilization while reducing wastage and production costs.

● Coordinate closely with Stores, Procurement, Quality, Dispatch, and Sales teams for smooth production flow.

● Ensure customer orders are completed and dispatched on schedule.

● Maintain daily production reports, manpower records, machine utilization reports, attendance, and MIS.

● Monitor machine performance and coordinate preventive maintenance to minimize breakdowns.

● Ensure proper implementation of 5S, housekeeping, safety standards, and company SOPs across the production floor.

● Identify process improvements to increase productivity, improve quality, and reduce manufacturing costs.

● Resolve day-to-day production challenges quickly and effectively to ensure uninterrupted operations.

● Maintain discipline, motivate production teams, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Preferred Candidate Profile

● Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, Wood Technology, or a related field.

● 3–8 years of experience in wooden pallets, crates, boxes, furniture, plywood, timber, sawmill, or industrial packaging manufacturing.

● Experience managing production teams of 30–60 employees.

● Strong knowledge of woodworking processes including cutting, sizing, assembly, pneumatic nailing, finishing, and packaging.

● Experience in production planning, manpower management, inventory control, quality assurance, and dispatch coordination.

● Ability to read production drawings and work according to customer specifications.

● Good understanding of wood optimization and material utilization techniques.

● Experience with Panel Saws, Table Saws, Cross-Cut Saws, Pneumatic Nailing Equipment, Compressors, and Forklifts will be an advantage.

● Good working knowledge of MS Excel; ERP/SAP experience will be an added advantage.

● Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
