Job description
Our client, a prominent cement manufacturing company, is currently looking for an experienced Security Officer / Security Supervisor to oversee and manage end-to-end security operations at their cement manufacturing unit located in Meghalaya, India. This is a critical leadership role within the Administration department, specifically designed for ex-defence professionals who bring discipline, strategic thinking, and operational excellence to industrial security management.
The organization operates one of the key cement production facilities in the northeastern region of India and maintains a strong commitment to workplace safety, asset protection, and regulatory compliance. The facility handles large-scale industrial operations, including raw material handling, clinker production, cement grinding, and logistics coordination — all of which demand a robust and well-structured security framework.
In this role, you will serve as the primary authority responsible for safeguarding personnel, plant infrastructure, raw materials, finished goods, and all company assets across the manufacturing unit and its surrounding premises. You will lead a team of security personnel and coordinate with multiple departments including HR, Operations, Legal, and Local Administration to ensure seamless security operations around the clock.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive security policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and emergency response protocols tailored to the cement manufacturing environment.
- Manage and supervise a team of security guards, supervisors, and support staff, ensuring proper shift scheduling, deployment planning, and performance monitoring across all entry/exit points and critical zones within the plant.
- Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk analysis exercises to identify potential threats — including theft, unauthorized access, fire hazards, and industrial espionage — and implement corrective measures promptly.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of all security infrastructure including CCTV surveillance systems, access control systems, perimeter fencing, fire detection and suppression equipment, alarm systems, and communication devices.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement agencies, district administration, and industrial safety authorities to ensure compliance with all applicable security regulations, labour laws, and government-mandated safety standards.
- Manage incident reporting and investigation processes, ensuring that all security breaches, thefts, accidents, or unauthorized activities are thoroughly documented, reported to senior management, and resolved with appropriate corrective actions.
- Organize and lead regular training sessions and mock drills for security personnel on topics including fire safety, crowd management, emergency evacuation, first aid, conflict resolution, and use of security equipment.
- Control and monitor the movement of vehicles, raw materials, finished cement bags, and personnel entering and exiting the plant premises, maintaining accurate logs and documentation at all times.
- Liaise with plant management and HR departments to address employee-related security concerns, including workplace violence, unauthorized absences, and disciplinary matters requiring security intervention.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly security reports to the plant head and corporate administration, highlighting key incidents, operational metrics, staffing status, and recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure adherence to the company's code of conduct, ethical standards, and corporate governance policies among all security personnel and maintain a professional, disciplined work environment at all times.
- *Work Environment and Culture:**
The work environment is industrial and operational, requiring the candidate to be on their feet for extended periods and perform duties in all weather conditions. The manufacturing unit operates on a 24/7 basis, and the Security Officer must be comfortable working in rotational shifts, including night duties and weekends. The organization values discipline, integrity, accountability, and teamwork — qualities that align naturally with a defence background. You will be part of a close-knit administrative team that collaborates daily with production, engineering, and logistics departments. The company fosters a culture of continuous improvement and encourages leadership at every level.
- *Candidate Requirements:**
- Ex-Defence personnel only — candidates must have served in the Indian Army, Indian Navy, or Indian Air Force in any rank (retired or voluntarily separated).
- Minimum educational qualification: 10+2 (Higher Secondary). Graduates will be given preference.
- Total work experience of 4 to 12 years, with prior experience in industrial security, facility management, or plant security operations. Experience in cement, steel, mining, or heavy manufacturing industries is highly preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to handle teams of 20–50+ security personnel.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Meghalaya will be an added advantage.
- Physically fit and medically sound, capable of performing security duties in an industrial environment with varying terrain and climate conditions.
- Valid driving license for four-wheelers is preferred.
- Age preference: Candidates between 28 and 50 years of age will be considered.
- *Technical and Professional Skills:**
- Proven expertise in physical security management, perimeter security, and access control systems.
- Familiarity with CCTV monitoring systems (Hikvision, Dahua, or equivalent), electronic surveillance equipment, and alarm management systems.
- Knowledge of fire safety protocols, industrial safety standards (including Factory Act compliance), and emergency evacuation procedures.
- Strong report-writing skills with proficiency in maintaining daily activity reports (DARs), incident logs, and shift handover documentation.
- Basic computer literacy including MS Office (Word, Excel) for report generation and communication.
- Understanding of labour laws, local policing protocols, and coordination with government authorities for industrial security matters.
- Crisis management and conflict resolution skills with demonstrated ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and effectively.
- *Compensation and Benefits:**
- Salary will be commensurate with your current CTC (Cost to Company) and performance during the interview process. The organization offers competitive compensation packages for security leadership roles in the manufacturing sector.
- Accommodation or housing allowance may be provided subject to company policy and availability.
- Other benefits include medical insurance, provident fund, gratuity, uniform allowance, and paid leave as per company norms.
- Opportunities for long-term career growth within the administration and security vertical of the organization.
- *Hiring Process:**
Interested and eligible ex-defence candidates are encouraged to apply immediately. The selection process will include an initial screening of your application and service background, followed by a personal interview (in-person or telephonic, depending on candidate availability). Shortlisted candidates may also be required to undergo a physical fitness assessment and medical examination prior to final selection.
