Job Title: Controller/Accounting Department Manager

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clarity for internal stakeholders.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the budgeting process and contribute to financial forecasts that inform strategic planning and operational decisions.
- Process Development: Identify gaps in existing accounting processes and lead the implementation of best practices, standardized workflows, and improved controls.
- Internal Controls: Assist in developing and maintaining effective internal controls to protect company assets and ensure data integrity.
- Compliance: Enhance expectations (best-practices standard) and ensure adherence to all applicable financial regulations and internal company policies.
- Cost Management: Define and implement new COA. Monitor and analyze operational costs, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements — particularly within transportation and logistics operations.
- Payroll Management: Oversee payroll processing to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Team Development: Support, mentor, and develop accounting team members, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and growth-oriented work environment.
- Audit Coordination: Assist in coordinating with external auditors for annual audits and ensure timely and organized completion.
- Change Leadership: Champion process and cultural improvements by building relationships across departments and gaining alignment from peers, direct reports, and leadership.

What You Bring
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Accounting designation preferred
Required Experience (if you do not meet the requirements, please do not apply)
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
- 2+ years experience in the transportation, trucking, or logistics industry
- Strong analytical mindset with sharp attention to detail
- Strong leadership and people management skills and a demonstrated ability to implement processes and drive change in a collaborative way
- 2+ years experience managing a team
- Excellent communication skills; able to present financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
- Proven ability to influence and build consensus across teams and levels of an organization
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where priorities can shift
- Experience in BI tools, and familiarity with databases/SQL.
- A solid understanding of logistics operations, supply chain processes and performance drivers.
