Legal Assistant - Personal Injury Focus

Glowinsky Law is currently seeking a Legal Assistant with approximately 1-3 years of experience in Plaintiff personal injury law (tort claims, motor vehicle accidents, dog bites, accident benefits, falls, long-term disability benefits denials, etc.).

• Excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills; and a strong attention to detail
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to be resourceful, organized, and work with minimal instruction or supervision
• The ability to work within tight timelines to meet deadlines while reassessing priorities as needed
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written) when dealing with lawyers, clients, staff, and third parties
• Being proactive and taking initiative in anticipation of the next steps on an assigned task

Qualifications

• Completion of a post-secondary Legal Assistant or Law Clerk course
• A minimum of one year experience in civil litigation
• In-depth understanding of personal injury and legal terminology
• Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
• Computer and typing skills (55 wpm or higher); and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Adobe Pro, digital dictation, etc.
• Experience working with PCLaw, Primafact, ACL, Tracument, Filevine, etc. is an asset

Responsibilities

• Handling all administrative duties, including email and calendar management, coordinating meetings, scanning and circulating mail, etc.
• Under professional legal supervision, preparing legal documents and correspondence according to precedents and/or instructions
• Ensuring all physical and electronic filing is organized and up to date on a regular basis
• Occasional transcribing digital dictation
• Delegating tasks to, and coordinating with, other administrative departments
• Providing backup coverage in the absence of other team members
• Other duties, as assigned
