General Labourer - Maintenance

GFL Environmental is looking for a hardworking and reliable General Laborer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing a variety of physical tasks to support daily operations. Responsibilities include site maintenance, equipment support, and assisting skilled trades or operators as needed.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Site Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work environment by removing debris, sweeping, pressure washing.

• Equipment Support: Perform basic cleaning and preventative maintenance on tractor-trailers.

• Operational Support: Operate general site vehicles such as pickup trucks.

• Safety Compliance: Work in strict accordance with company safety policies and provincial/federal health and safety regulations.

• Facility Upkeep: Perform minor repairs and general maintenance, including painting, janitorial tasks, and basic office repairs.

• Material Handling: Load, unload, and move materials manually or with the assistance of basic tools.

• Team Assistance: Cross-train to assist with parts and service coverage. Provide general support to senior staff and perform other duties as assigned by management to ensure project deadlines are met.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Technical Skills: Experience operating a skid steer or similar small machinery is considered a strong asset.

• Problem Solving: Ability to apply common sense reasoning to carry out instructions and solve practical problems.

• Physical Stamina: * Ability to manually lift and move up to 65 lbs regularly.

• Ability to push or move up to 100 lbs with assistance.

• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and standing for long periods.

• Reliability: Strong work ethic, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

• Communication: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions clearly.
