The Role:

The career level Manufacturing Engineer able to work autonomously with occasional guidance from supervision. Skilled in equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities necessary for the production of parts. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where creativity and initiative is exercised as well as independent judgment.

What You'll Do:

  • Project management for tools, large equipment, stations or specific technologies applicable to the department

  • Supervising a group of Skilled hourly employees to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and processes

  • Consistently administer National and Local Agreement between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union

  • Utilize independent judgment within the limits of Global Manufacturing Systems, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE)

  • Typically, part of a larger effort or project:

    • manufacturing process definition

    • sequence of operations

    • human factors consideration

    • efficient material flow

  • Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high quality parts

  • Provide technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources

  • Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience in technical troubleshooting

  • Must be willing to rotate shifts (1st and 2nd Production Shifts)

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • College Degree in a technical field

  • Experience leading a team in a manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge and experience with FANUC robots and automation

  • Direct exposure to manufacturing maintenance processes

  • Experience working with various types of conveyors (OHPF, inverted PF, PRBs, two strand, etc)

  • Ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints

  • Ability to troubleshoot using PLCs (Allen-Bradley, etc), Siemens

  • Knowledge of safety systems such as fall-hazard awareness, lock-out tag-out procedures
