Job description
This role is a highly valuable part of our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Business Continuity Management (BCM) team, which is committed to safeguarding Genentech’s primary US distribution network and ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of life-saving medicines to patients. As a core member of this team, you will protect critical supply chains by designing robust strategies to mitigate enterprise-level operational risks and vulnerabilities. You will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders across Logistics, Trade Compliance, Global Security, and Executive Leadership to build a resilient, risk-aware culture. Together, we act as a stabilizing force to ensure our transformational treatments securely and reliably reach the patients who need them most.
The Opportunity
The Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Management & Business Continuity is a high-impact individual contributor responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving the comprehensive ERM and BCM programs at Genentech’s Primary US Distribution Center in Louisville, KY. This critical role safeguards US commercial pharmaceutical distribution and secures the continuity of the majority of Roche's global pharma revenue against enterprise-level disruptions. Key responsibilities include:
Drive Program Maturity: Lead and scale end-to-end ERM and BCM frameworks aligned with ISO 31000 and ISO 22301 standards across all PT US Supply Chain functions, including Logistics, Sales & Operations Planning, and Trade Compliance.
Command Crisis Readiness: Establish and lead the site’s Crisis Management Team by designing activation structures, communication protocols, and high-fidelity annual readiness exercises (tabletops, drills, and simulations).
Mitigate Supply Chain Interruptions: Conduct comprehensive Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) and formulate documented recovery strategies to minimize operational downtime and protect critical pharmaceutical inventory.
Oversee Physical Security Integration: Manage site security operations—including contract providers, surveillance architectures, and regulatory compliance (FDA/DEA)—while seamlessly embedding physical security threats into the overarching ERM framework.
Direct Insurance & Claims Portfolio: Coordinate site asset exposure documentation and claims management alongside Roche Group Insurance and external brokers to leverage data-driven risk transfer strategies.
Establish Collaborative Governance: Design cross-functional risk steering committees and RACI models to embed risk ownership across diverse site operations without relying on direct authority.
Harmonize Global Standards: Serve as the primary facility liaison to Roche’s global risk and security networks, aligning local operations with global best practices while partnering with external 3PLs and regulatory bodies.
Who You Are
You possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Supply Chain, Risk Management, Business Administration) and possess a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) designation, or the ability to obtain it within 18 months.
Matrix Navigator: Proven track record of collaborating successfully within a global, highly matrixed organization, driving alignment between local site priorities and global corporate network standards.
Expert Influencer: Exceptional ability to build senior-level coalitions, earn rapid credibility, and comfortably drive accountability among cross-functional stakeholders without direct hierarchical authority.
Experienced Resilience Leader: 10–15 years of progressive experience in ERM, BCM, crisis management, or physical security, including at least 5 years within a highly regulated sector like pharmaceuticals, biotech, or healthcare logistics.
Strategic Communicator: Outstanding facilitation and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex risk metrics and scenario analyses into clear, actionable executive-level insights.
