Job Description Summary
Lead Substation Automation Engineer will be responsible for the engineering and field services of Substation Automation Systems and Control panels, including DCS, Gateways and RTU.You will closely coordinate your activities with GEV Sales, Tendering, Project Management, Telecom Engineering, Application, and After-Sales teams.
Job Description
What will you do:
Take ownership of the engineering and field services for Substation Automation Systems, including DCS, Gateways and RTU.
Handle the engineering and field services for Control, and RTU panels.
Lead and develop the technical team by providing training, mentorship, and day-to-day technical support.
Own all technical activities for assigned projects, including Site surveys, System engineering and detailed design, Material Specs and PR/PO, Coordination and support for panel integration, Pre-FAT internal validation and FAT with the customer, Field Servies activities, Site red-markups and as-built drawings.
Analyze customer requirements and specifications, and propose innovative, cost-effective technical solutions.
Design substation LAN networks and communication architectures.
Configure industrial Ethernet switches, routers, and satellite clocks/time synchronization systems.
Participate with the Project Manager in meetings with customers, end users, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
Support project planning to help ensure key milestones are achieved according to the project schedule.
Follow the department’s standard design processes and contribute to their continuous improvement.
Support Sales and Tendering teams.
Prepare and deliver customer training sessions, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
What will you bring:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics, Control, or Communications Engineering, or a closely related technical field from an accredited institution."
Minimum 3 year of hands-on experience (Engineering / Configuration / Testing and Commissioning) of DCS (IEC 61850), BCU, GW, and RTU for electrical power substations HV/EHV .
Knowledge of sequencing and interlocking principles used in substation automation and their implementation on IEC 61850 IEDs.
Working knowledge of communication and automation protocols such as IEC 61850, MODBUS, IEC 60870-5-101/104, T103, and SNMP.
Proficiency in at least one of CAD tools such as AutoCAD, MS Visio or equivalent
Strong skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability and willingness to travel within and outside the country without limitations, as required.
Fluency in English and Arabic

Strong time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and respond positively to urgent or changing requirements.
