The Prince Albert Daily Herald is a locally owned daily newspaper in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. We publish Tuesday through Saturday and cover politics, current events, sports, arts, culture, education, court, and general interest stories. We are the only locally owned media outlet in Prince Albert, and we strive to cover stories that often go uncovered by larger media outlets.

About the Role

The Daily Herald is looking for a passionate reporter/photographer to work out of La Ronge and cover northern Saskatchewan for us.

What You Will Do

Work with the editor to develop and pitch story ideas

Conduct interviews

Take photographs that add to the story

Write stories that are accurate, objective, and fair

Write clean copy by deadline

Assist with layout if needed

About La Ronge

La Ronge is a town of roughly 2,700 people situated roughly 240 km north of Prince Albert. The town is closely connected to the nearby communities of Air Ronge and the Lac La Ronge Indian Band. Journalists who enjoy camping, hiking, swimming, or fishing in their spare time will enjoy living in La Ronge during the summer.

Qualifications

Must be willing to work evenings and weekends

Must be objective and professional

Must have post‑secondary training as a journalist or relevant experience

Must own a car and have a valid driver’s licence

Experience with InDesign is not necessary, but an asset

Must be a good communicator who works well with others and can deal with the public in a professional manner

Must be willing to live and work in La Ronge or the surrounding area
