Job Summary
The Assistant Professor in the Pharmacy Department is responsible for delivering high-quality education, conducting impactful research, and contributing to the departments academic and administrative activities. This role involves teaching undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy students, engaging in scholarly research, mentoring students, and participating in institutional service to advance the departments mission and goals. Also expected to do any & all duties as assigned by the Dean of FOP.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching and Academic Delivery
- Design, develop, and deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and seminars in pharmacy-related subjects, including but not limited to pharmacology, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, and clinical pharmacy.
- Prepare course materials, including syllabi, lecture notes, assignments, and assessments, ensuring alignment with program objectives and accreditation standards.
- Utilize innovative teaching methodologies, including technology-enhanced learning, to foster critical thinking and practical skills among students.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through examinations, projects, presentations, and other assessment tools, providing constructive feedback.
- Supervise student internships, clinical rotations, and capstone projects, ensuring practical exposure to pharmacy practice.
2. Research and Scholarly Activities
- Conduct original research in specialized areas of pharmacy, contributing to advancements in pharmaceutical sciences or clinical practice.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, present at national and international conferences, and seek opportunities for research collaboration.
- Secure research grants and funding from government, industry, or academic sources to support research initiatives.
- Guide and mentor postgraduate students in their research projects, theses, and dissertations.
- Stay updated with current trends, innovations, and regulatory developments in the pharmaceutical field to inform research and teaching.
3. Student Mentorship and Support
- Provide academic and career guidance to students, fostering their professional development and preparing them for careers in pharmacy or further studies.
- Act as an academic advisor, assisting students with course selection, research opportunities, and professional networking.
- Support students in co-curricular and extracurricular activities, such as pharmacy-related clubs, competitions, and community outreach programs.
4. Departmental and Institutional Service
- Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and accreditation processes to ensure program quality and compliance with regulatory bodies (e.g., Pharmacy Council of India, AICTE).
- Contribute to the development and revision of academic programs, incorporating industry trends and stakeholder feedback.
- Serve on institutional committees, such as academic councils, research boards, or examination committees, as assigned.
- Engage in community service and outreach programs, promoting public health awareness and the role of pharmacists in society.
5. Professional Development
- Pursue continuous professional development through workshops, certifications, and advanced degrees to enhance teaching and research expertise.
- Maintain active membership in professional organizations, such as the Indian Pharmaceutical Association or the International Pharmaceutical Federation.
- Collaborate with industry professionals, healthcare providers, and academic peers to strengthen the departments network and reputation.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Educational Qualification: PhD (Mandatory) and Masters degree in Pharmacy (M. Pharm) with a specialization in a relevant discipline.
- Experience: Prior teaching experience at the university level or relevant industry/research experience is desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students and colleagues effectively.
- Proficiency in research methodologies and academic publishing.
- Familiarity with modern teaching tools, e-learning platforms, and laboratory equipment.
