Job description
Build the systems behind everything Gallup sells online.
As a software engineer on Gallup's E-commerce team, you'll help power every online purchase and customer interaction. Working across the full e-commerce stack, you'll create modern commerce experiences, design APIs and develop integrations that build a more flexible, scalable commerce platform.
What you create today will influence how Gallup sells for years to come. If you're energized by solving difficult engineering problems, learning continuously and seeing your code directly improve the customer experience, you'll thrive on this team.
What You’ll Do
- Ship features primarily in TypeScript across Gallup's e-commerce platform, including catalog, checkout, subscriptions, gifting and enrollment
- Develop full-stack features spanning front-end and back-end services
- Help design and implement internal APIs that enable teams across Gallup to deliver commerce experiences
- Build and maintain integrations connecting commerce with payments, catalog, identity and other business systems
- Modernize and continuously improve Gallup's e-commerce platform through thoughtful engineering
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code while improving developer tools, CI/CD pipelines and engineering workflows
- Partner with senior engineers to solve complex technical challenges while growing your own engineering expertise
What Makes You Stand Out
- Strong fundamentals: You learn quickly, solve problems thoughtfully and continually master new tools, frameworks and concepts. You may not have experience with every technology we use, but you have the engineering foundation to grow into them.
- Continuous learning: You continually expand your skills through new technologies, side projects, open-source contributions, books, courses or other self-directed learning.
- API depth: You understand what makes APIs intuitive, reliable and maintainable, and you're excited to deepen your experience designing them.
- Engineering versatility: You enjoy working across the full stack and are comfortable learning new frameworks, languages and technologies as business needs evolve.
- Modern engineering approach: You value automation, developer experience, testing and continuous improvement as much as shipping features.
- Natural curiosity: You seek challenging problems, embrace feedback and consistently look for better ways to engineer software and improve the team's effectiveness.
What You Need
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience, required
- At least two years of full-stack software engineering experience required
- Experience building and shipping production applications through professional work or substantial personal or open-source projects required
- Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of APIs and what makes them intuitive, reliable and maintainable required
- Experience engineering features for e-commerce or adjacent industries preferred
- Experience with containers, CI/CD pipelines and modern developer tooling preferred
- A commitment to working on-site at Gallup's San Francisco office at least three days per week required
