SAP Payroll Master

As an integral member of the Payroll department, the responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist include providing direct supervision for assigned personnel and coordinating the payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely payments to employees. Your duties also include establishing and maintaining departmental procedures; ensuring the efficient operation of the department; and participating in the training and development of payroll staff to achieve excellence in payroll administration.

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinates and implements change to improve the efficiency of payroll procedures.
  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures on remuneration plans in SAP.
  • Act as SAP Payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME) (SAP HCM Payroll / SAP ECC / SAP S/4HANA).
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations.
  • Ensures payroll accounting procedures are accurate and complete; maintains effective internal control for the payroll function.
  • Investigates and resolves complaints and inquiries from department managers, directors and government departments.
  • Co-ordinates and maintains responsibility for completing annual procedures such as year-end balancing, T4’s, T4A’s preparation, etc.
  • Hires, coaches and evaluates payroll staff.
  • Manage all CSST files, financial and claims.
  • Manage all the Executives benefits files ( Insurances, HAS, RRSP)

The successful candidate will have a Certificate of Payroll Management Course as recognized by the Canadian Payroll Association. You have a three-year post-secondary education with Accounting emphasis or Administration. We are seeking an individual with 10-15 years of payroll experience with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role in a computerized payroll office, preferably in an environment of no less than 1,000 employees.

Skills required:

  • Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, HR, or related field.
  • Payroll certification (e.g., Canadian Payroll Association / National Payroll Institute PCP/CPM, APA FPC/CPP) is an asset.
  • 5+ years of payroll experience in medium/large organizations (preferably 500+ employees), with exposure to both Canadian and US payroll.
  • Prior participation in a payroll system implementation or upgrade is highly desirable.
  • SAP Payroll Configuration & Processing
  • Demonstrate organizational and coaching / mentoring leadership skills.
  • Complete knowledge of computerized payroll system.
  • Complete knowledge of Revenue Canada Taxation regulations.
  • Ability to plan and work within strict deadlines.
  • Excellent mathematical aptitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingualism in French / English.
  • General knowledge of U.S. payroll.
