The Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center is looking for a dedicated Records Clerk to join our team. This critical role ensures the establishment, maintenance, and security of inmate records. Working in collaboration with staff, inmates, law enforcement, and the public, you will play a vital part in the smooth operation of the Detention Center. - Maintained inmate court and incarceration records, including bonds, charges, court dates, sentencing, and release documentation.
- Coordinated inmate court appearances and prepared daily court lists and bond hearing schedules.
- Managed inmate case files and updated OMS/LIDS systems with sentencing and custody information.
- Processed inmate releases, transfers, and sentence calculations in compliance with state and DOC requirements.
- Worked closely with courts, probation, law enforcement, and detention facilities to ensure accurate recordkeeping and communication.
- Maintained VCIN/NCIC certification and assisted with sex offender registration and court-related matters.
- Handled phone inquiries, archived inmate records, and supported facility safety and operational procedures.
- Assist with weekend confinement schedules and adapt court-mandated obligations for inmates transitioning to workforce programs.
- Testify in court as required and work with law enforcement on sex offender identification and registration.
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- One (1) year of clerical and/or basic accounting experience to include various computer systems and programs with associated printers, scanning equipment, copiers, fax machines, telephone system, and calculators.
- Ability to work near the intake area of the jail, with frequent inmate traffic, noise, and potential exposure to strong language or behavioral disturbances.
- Thrives in a high-pressure setting and handles unexpected situations with professionalism.
- VCIN/NCIC certification necessary.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
- Ability to perform light physical activity, including walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Requires prolonged sitting, frequent computer use, verbal communication, and attention to detail.
- Works in a secure detention facility and office environment with regular exposure to pre-trial and post-conviction inmates.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules and irregular hours as needed.
- Maintains awareness of safety, security, and emergency procedures in a moderately noisy work environment.
