Position Highlights

Casual Pharmacy Assistant opportunities across Greater Vancouver, Squamish/Whistler, and Sunshine Coast-Sechelt/Powell River areas.

Responsibilities

• Assist with dispensing prescription orders.
• Count, measure, and fill medication containers or unit dose packages; compound medications such as lotions, ointments, and creams for inspection.
• Pre-package oral, liquid, topical and mini-bag with integrated vial assembly medications into unit-of-use format and maintain related records.
• Deliver ward supplies and other stock requirements; maintain inventory and wardstock levels; fill wardstock and narcotic requisitions; distribute medications and maintain inventory records.
• Identify beyond-use-dated drugs for return or destruction by checking stock for expiry dates.
• Maintain department work areas, ensuring tidiness and order; stock pharmaceuticals, labels, containers, and glassware per established procedures.
• Perform clerical duties such as typing, answering the phone, filing, and maintaining records of drug usage and costs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school graduation and completion of a recognized Pharmacy Assistant course.
• At least one (1) year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with others.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Typing proficiency.
• Organizational skills.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
