Location: Father Mercredi Catholic High School

Posting: 1.0 FTE Full-Time; High School Math Teacher (Temporary)

Start Date: August 24th 2026 - January 29 2027; with possibility of extension

The Fort McMurray Roman Catholic Separate School Division is seeking passionate and dedicated 1.0 FTE Full-Time High School Math Teacher to join our vibrant education community starting August 24th 2026 to January 29th 2027 for the first term of the 2026-2027 school year at Father Mercredi Catholic High School.

The Opportunity:

As a Junior High Math/Science Teacher with FMCSD, you will play a foundational role in shaping the minds and hearts of our future leaders. You will be responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning, all within the framework of our Catholic faith. Key Responsibilities:

  • prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
  • meet with other professionals to discuss individual student needs and progress
  • volunteer to supervise extracurricular and after-school activities
  • attend meetings, seminars, and in-service training sessions.
  • Integrate faith-based teachings and values into daily lessons and classroom activities.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons aligned with Alberta Education curriculum and FMCSD's educational philosophy.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes active learning, social-emotional development, and spiritual growth.
  • Assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student development.
  • Integrate faith-based teachings and values into daily lessons and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to ensure student success and a cohesive school environment.
  • Maintain accurate student records and adhere to all school and division policies and procedures.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education degree; a specialization in math is preferred
  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate; or, eligibility for one.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Commitment to diversity equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
  • Organized and able to meet deadlines in accordance with the school schedule
  • Commitment to education and excited to work with students each day

The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check. FMCSD will contact past and present employers for references. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate; this includes fluency with e-mail, Internet and MS Office.
