Our team is crafting American-made drones that serve as fully open platforms for applications in machine learning, data capture, and autonomous operations. We envision a future where drones computing trillions of operations per second can be deployed by hundreds of thousands across the Western world with transformative impact across sectors, including American critical infrastructure, public safety, and defense. As a core contributor to Aviator, you will work on features spanning user authentication, backend connectivity, and app lifecycle management.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and build app features using Kotlin and modern Android practices (Coroutines/Flow, DI, etc.).
- Integrate with backend APIs (REST, gRPC) for authentication, data synchronization, and user management.
- Write robust logs for app reliability and traceability.
- Develop automated unit and UI tests using JUnit, MockK/Mockito, and Espresso/Compose Testing to verify UI, ViewModels, repositories, user interactions, and end-to-end application workflows.
- Contribute to the overall software goals and current requirements of Flyby Robotics.
Core Requirements:
- 2+ years of professional experience in Android development using Kotlin.
- Extensive knowledge of Kotlin reactive programming (Flow, StateFlow, SharedFlow), Coroutines, and Hilt Dependency Injection.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality code, project ownership, and writing robust tests.

Nice to have
- Experience building in-app update mechanisms.
- Understanding of MAVLink and the ArduPilot stack.
- Familiarity with Gstreamer, MQTT, and MapBox.
- You have a love for robots, drones, and hardware.
Compensation and Benefits:
- $130,000 per year annual salary.
- 0.25% equity via stock options, depending on the candidate's experience.
- Company holiday calendar and unlimited PTO.
- Company group health insurance plans.
