Manufacturing Facilities Custodian

Fluxwerx Illumination Inc. is a leading innovator in an industry experiencing unprecedented growth. From our local facility in Port Kells, Surrey, we design, manufacture, and market architectural lighting products. This role supports the manufacturing facilities by ensuring the daily cleanliness of the warehouse and production areas, disposal of operations waste and recycling amongst other daily duties. This role is a physical and hands-on role which requires a high degree of organizational skill and to the work independently.

We are looking for an energetic Temporary Facilities Custodian to join our growing team. This is a temporary contract role for up to 6 months, from Monday to Friday (8:00 am- 4:30 pm).

THE ROLE:

• Operating sit-down forklift and electric pallet jack to empty & dispose of Operations waste/recycling and operating floor scrubber while maintaining safety protocols & procedures
• Gather and separate recycling of all Operations waste, plastic, foam, cardboard, paper and wire to Recycling bin locations
• Clean warehouse aisles & production floor on a rotating basis by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing
• Clean outside loading bays & parking area & around the garbage & recycling bins of debris
• Daily cleaning of lunch/break area including counter areas, microwaves, tables & chairs, fridges and empty trash & recycling
• Daily servicing and cleaning of restrooms.
• Weekly dusting of floor computers and printers and other areas as assigned
• Identify & report any unsafe practices or items they may need repairing to Manager
• Occasional light duties required for projects and improvements.
• Winter Months - responsibilities include snow shoveling for all sidewalks and entrances/exits in the facilities, as well as applying salt at employee entrances, main sidewalks, parking areas and loading bays.
• Other duties, as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 2 years of forklift experience required, Forklift license – Sit down counter balance
• 2 years year of experience as a custodian in manufacturing/warehouse industry preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• High level of cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse workforce
• An ability to self-motivate and work independently with minimal supervision
• An ability to multitask manage various responsibilities and schedules
• Ability to stand up for 5 hours at a time and push/pull/lift up to 70 lbs. consistently
• Must be flexibility to work with team members or individually

Job Type: Fixed term contract
