Job description

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department (FCFRD) is the largest Fire Department in the State of Virginia with roughly 1,400 highly trained uniformed personnel. Here at FCFRD, field personnel work one of three 24-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays. The FCFRD staffs 39 fire stations with ALS Engines, ALS Ladder Trucks, ALS Rescue Squads, Tankers, Hazardous Materials unit, Hazardous Materials support unit, and 42 transport units. Several other types of apparatus, such as Brush Trucks, Boats, and support vehicles supplement the needs of the FCFRD.

At FCFRD we provide training for our Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician position (EMT). No experience is required, and all training is paid. At the training academy, recruits learn Firefighting and Emergency Medical Services, participate in community risk reduction activities, operate apparatus and equipment, participate in physical fitness training, attend drills and training, maintain, and inspect equipment, and perform other related duties.

Additionally, the FCFRD is home to VATF-1/USA-1 (Team 1), part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) response system and one of two internationally deployable Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Teams in the United States.

Starting Salary:

$78,143k for the Firefighter/Paramedic with ALS Certification plus $10k signing bonus!

18 years of age or older
