Job Description

Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Azure Cosmos DB DBA to architect, optimize, and manage our global-scale NoSQL database infrastructure. You will be the primary expert responsible for ensuring high performance, 99.999% availability, and cost-efficiency across multiple APIs (SQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Modeling: Design and implement scalable NoSQL data models, partitioning strategies, and indexing policies tailored for distributed systems.

Performance Tuning: Optimize throughput provisioning (RU/s), consistency models, and multi-region replication to maintain sub-10ms latency.

Operational Management: Monitor database health, manage capacity, and execute backup, restore, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate deployments and scaling using Bicep, ARM templates, or Terraform.

Security & Compliance: Implement RBAC, data encryption, and private endpoints to ensure enterprise-grade security and governance.

Integration: Collaborate with developers to integrate Cosmos DB with Azure services like Azure Functions, Event Hubs, and Azure Data Factory.

Required Technical Skills

Cloud Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB (SQL API, MongoDB API, etc.) in production.

NoSQL Principles: Deep understanding of horizontal partitioning, sharding, and eventual vs. strong consistency models.

Scripting: Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or Azure CLI for administrative automation.

Monitoring Tools: Skilled in using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Azure Advisor for proactive troubleshooting.

DevOps: Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) for database schema migrations.

Qualifications

Experience: 8+ years in database administration, with at least 3-5 years focused on Azure Cosmos DB.

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Certifications:

DP-420: Microsoft Certified: Azure Cosmos DB Developer Specialty.

DP-300: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
