Job Description
You will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations and statutory compliance across the APAC region, including Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, China, Korea, Australia, and India. Your primary focus will be on India payroll management, with broader Asia regional payroll experience being a significant advantage. In this role, you will collaborate with HR, Finance, and external payroll vendors to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, maintain audit-ready controls, and drive continuous process improvement.
- Own monthly payroll processing for assigned APAC countries, particularly India, to ensure on-time payroll payments and statutory reporting.
- Review gross-to-net reports and handle exceptions effectively.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations (tax, social security, benefits, year-end filings), manage off-cycle runs, terminations, retro adjustments, equity/bonus calculations, and expatriate/NTL cases.
- Reconcile payroll data with the General Ledger, assist with payroll accounting journals and queries, and support audits, SOX compliance, and internal control testing.
- Provide employee support related to payroll through efficient case management practices adhering to strong SLAs.
- Manage end-to-end India statutory compliance, including Professional Tax (state-wise), TDS reconciliation (Form 24Q), Form 16 issuance, and coordination for periodic inspections and audits.
Qualifications Required:
- Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of regional payroll experience with a solid understanding of APAC statutory frameworks related to payroll.
- Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP Celergo, ADP Streamline, Workday, or similar platforms and advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Japanese, Korean, or Mandarin would be advantageous.
- Detail-oriented, data-driven, and capable of handling tight timelines across different time zones.
- Experience in payroll transitions or system implementations, shared services, or regional center operations.
