PostgreSQL Database Administrator – 5

Location 44 King Street W 10th Floor, Toronto, Ontario

Hybrid: 2 days in-office (will increase to 4 days in future)

Anchor days: Flexible

Contract Duration: 6 Months

Possibility of extension: Yes, based on performance and business needs

Typical Day in Role:

• Implementing PostgreSQL database clusters with replication
• Manage database security/integrity and backup procedures
• Upgrade Database instances from lower versions to current versions.
• Assist with database design and development and tuning queries
• Independently manage MongoDB installations and configurations in Linux environments and cloud (GCP).
• Implement multi-data center replica sets and sharded clusters across Linux platforms and MongoDB Atlas on GCP.
• Ensure database security with knowledge of audit, security, backup/recovery and encryption at rest.
• Tackle complex problems through conceptualization and reasoning.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

• 10+ Years as a Database Administrator or relevant experience.
• 5+ years of recent experience with Strong PostgreSQL skills from version 13 to current.
• 2+ years of Hands-on experience with MongoDB Enterprise and MongoDB Atlas.
• Previous experience with GCP AlloyDB is critical for this role
• Proficient in configuring MongoDB in a Linux environment and cloud
• Experience with implementing multi-data center replica sets and sharded clusters
• Knowledge of audit processes, security measures, encryption at rest, MongoDB version upgrades

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Prior Scotia experience
• Previous experience with Cassandra Database and Redis experience is nice to have

Best vs. Average Candidate:

The ideal candidate would have experience with PostgreSQL, GCP AlloyDB, and MongoDB. They should also be competent working with Linux and GCP or another Cloud Platform. Previous experience with top 5 Banks is very nice to have.

Degrees or certifications:

• Bachelor's degree or related work experience
• Certified with MongoDB or GCP is very nice to have

Candidate Review & Selection

2 Rounds of interviews

• 1st- Video Interview (1 hour) with HM and team lead: Technical based questions based on previous experience
• 2nd with director (1 hour): Behavioral and Tech interview to gauge the team fit.
