About the Role

As a Software Development Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and scaling backend systems that power high-throughput, low-latency transaction processing. You’ll work on distributed, event-driven architectures and contribute to building resilient systems that operate reliably under significant scale and complexity. This is a highly technical role with meaningful ownership across system design, performance optimization, and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-performance backend services optimized for low latency and high throughput
• Develop and scale event-driven microservices that process real-time data and transactions
• Architect distributed systems with a focus on reliability, fault tolerance, and scalability
• Implement and optimize database strategies (e.g., partitioning, sharding, indexing) to support large-scale workloads
• Build and maintain asynchronous messaging systems (e.g., Kafka) for service-to-service communication
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and improve development workflows for efficient, reliable deployments
• Write and maintain automated tests to ensure system performance and reliability
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively address bottlenecks
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, infrastructure, and engineering teams
• Participate in code reviews and mentor engineers to help elevate overall engineering quality

Required Skills

• Experience in brokerage, trading, clearing/settlement, fintech, e-commerce
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
• Experience deploying applications within AWS
• Strong experience with multi-threading and designing high-throughput systems
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in team-based environments

Preferred Skills

• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Hands-on experience with messaging systems such as Kafka
• Experience with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or comparable systems

Pay Range and Compensation Package

• Salary: $150,000 – $190,000 annually
• Fully-Remote options available
