Job Description

The Fleet Data Analyst works closely with maintenance supervisors, planners, service lane staff, procurement, and leadership to drive continuous improvement within a high demand, safety critical environment.

The Fleet Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting operational and maintenance data to support informed decision making across fleet maintenance, service reliability, safety, and performance reporting. This role ensures data accuracy, develops dashboards and KPI reporting tools, and provides actionable insights that improve overall service delivery. The salary range for this role is $77,000 - $81,000.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collects, processes, and analyzes data from systems such as Fleetio™, OEM telematics, maintenance logs, vendor reports, and inventory systems.
  • Tracks and reports KPIs including: Miles Between Failure (MBF), Mean Distance Between Failures (MDBF), Road Calls, Rework Rates, preventive maintenance compliance, and Out-of-Service (OOS) trends.
  • Identifies patterns in component failures, warranty issues, chronic units, and propulsion-system reliability (diesel, hybrid-electric, battery-electric).
  • Develops predictive and preventive maintenance insights to support long-term fleet planning.
  • Supports operations teams by analyzing on-time performance, headway adherence, travel time, and route-level reliability.
  • Provides daily, weekly, and monthly reporting for leadership.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining service-lane performance dashboards tied to clean, fuel, inspection, and dispatch metrics.
  • Builds dashboards, charts, and automated reports using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
  • Maintains documentation on data sources, definitions, and reporting standards.
  • Assists in reporting required for FTA, state, or internal audits.
  • Tracks safety events, wheel-off audits, lockout/tagout compliance data, and maintenance quality assurance indicators.
  • Supports investigations by compiling timelines, maintenance histories, and telematics data.
  • Recommends improvements to maintenance workflows, inventory management, asset tracking, and work order processes.
  • Collaborates with IT, vendors, and software providers to improve data reliability and integration.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to travel offsite occasionally.
  • Ability to present complex data clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to interpret maintenance and operational data, failure codes, and diagnostic trends.

Emotional and Physical Requirements:

Emotional

  • Concentrate on priority tasks with frequent interruptions.

Physical

  • Extended periods of sitting in an office environment.
  • Travel through facility grounds that may include stairwells and to various points in the garage.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2 years of relevant experience, in data analytics role
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with reporting tools Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in outdoor environments.
  • Successful completion of background check, that must be maintained throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior transit specific, data analysis experience
  • Experience with commercial bus fleets (diesel, hybrid, CNG, or battery-electric).
  • Familiarity with Fleetio, AssetWorks, Trapeze, Hastus, or similar fleet/operations systems.
  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures, warranty processes, and transit operations.
  • Understanding of FTA regulations, Transit Asset Management requirements, and NTD reporting.
  • SQL, Python, or R experience for advanced data processing
