Role Summary:
The Senior IT Project Manager is accountable for leading and managing a full suite of IT projects across the organization’s portfolio, applying both traditional waterfall and agile methodologies as appropriate to each initiative. This senior role is responsible for end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-functional IT projects on time and within budget, while driving strategic alignment between IT and business objectives. The Senior IT Project Manager leads project teams and third-party resources and provides senior-level support to the CTO in portfolio governance, capacity planning, reporting, and continuous improvement of the IT delivery framework.
What you will be doing:
Operational Management
- Accountable for the end-to-end oversight and delivery of the full IT project portfolio, managing multiple concurrent projects through initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & controlling, and closure—ensuring all projects meet defined success criteria, delivery milestones, and budget targets.
Strategy & Planning
- Ensure the IT project portfolio is delivered in alignment with corporate business strategy, fostering strong collaboration between IT and all business areas; act as a senior advocate for business value realization across all projects.
- Establish, govern, and continuously improve the Project Management framework and toolset, incorporating both agile (Scrum, Kanban) and traditional (waterfall, PMBOK) methodologies tailored to project context and complexity.
- Embed cyber security and risk management throughout all stages of project planning and execution; allocate appropriate resources for security analysis, requirements definition, testing, and ongoing support across the portfolio.
Acquisition & Deployment
- Lead capacity planning across the portfolio by estimating and forecasting the resources, skills, and participants required to achieve project and program objectives; proactively identify and address resource constraints.
- Drive recruitment, onboarding, and integration of project team members and external vendors; negotiate with department leaders and third-party partners for acquisition and deployment of personnel across the IT project portfolio.
Portfolio Coordination
- Own and manage the full IT project portfolio lifecycle, including intake, prioritization, resource allocation, scheduling, and performance reporting to ensure successful execution of the IT delivery plan.
- Develop and maintain portfolio-level dashboards, status reports, and executive briefings; provide transparent, data-driven visibility into portfolio health, risks, issues, and dependencies for senior leadership.
- Champion agile transformation and hybrid delivery practices across the IT organization; coach and mentor project managers and delivery teams on methodology selection and best practices.
- Identify, assess, and manage cross-portfolio risks, interdependencies, and escalations; drive resolution of issues that may impact scope, schedule, cost, or quality across the delivery plan.
What you bring:
- Minimum 10 years of progressive IT project management experience, including demonstrated leadership of a multi-project portfolio and full process development and execution at a senior level.
- University degree or college diploma in a related field.
- PMP certification required; CSM, SAFe, or equivalent agile certification strongly preferred; additional credentials in portfolio management (PgMP or PfMP) are a significant asset.
- Deep expertise across the full SDLC spectrum, including agile (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe), waterfall (PMBOK), and hybrid delivery models; proven ability to select and apply the right methodology based on project needs.
- Advanced proficiency with project and portfolio management tools including MS Project, MS Project Online, Excel, PowerPoint, JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or equivalent enterprise PPM platforms.
- Familiarity with IT systems and methodologies and work experience in financial services an asset.
- Demonstrated senior leadership experience managing cross-functional project teams, vendor relationships, and stakeholder engagement at the executive level.

Salary Range
$128,000 to $150,000 CAD/Annually
Salaries will vary based on factors such as market conditions, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role. Please note this represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total rewards program (i.e. annual bonus). This posting is for a vacant position within the organization.
