Job Description

  • On-site position in Austin, TX.
  • Weekly compensation of $100,000 - Health benefits begin on day one
  • Relocation assistance provided

What if the bridge to literacy for young learners lies in the space they already inhabit: the world of gaming, where progression, perseverance, and skill-building come naturally?

NextGen Academy is a school designed specifically for students who are passionate about gaming. Learning happens through adaptive technology, with adults serving as facilitators and mentors. Reading is the area where early learners require the most direct support, and that's your focus.

You will lead small-group reading sessions for students in grades K-2. You'll apply structured literacy approaches and integrate adaptive applications that monitor each learner's development continuously. When a student struggles with phonics, you pivot. When a student achieves a breakthrough, you recognize it. Your groups remain small enough that you understand every child's reading ability, preferences, and motivators.

The fulfillment comes from seeing students who once found letter sounds challenging begin to read fluently and confidently in an environment where "leveling up" has meaning both on screen and in the classroom.

Drive learning. Embrace growth. Apply today.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Create and facilitate small-group literacy workshops for K-2 learners, ensuring phonics instruction is engaging, personalized, and effective
  • Adjust teaching approaches on the fly based on individual student needs, group literacy levels, and engagement indicators
  • Conduct motivational sessions with students to promote progress in adaptive literacy platforms and reach learning milestones
  • Track student performance metrics from adaptive technology and apply this data to customize instruction for each group
  • Employ storytelling, humor, gaming metaphors, and positive feedback to sustain student effort and address learning challenges

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering traditional classroom lectures — learning occurs through self-directed apps and your targeted small-group sessions, not through passive listening
  • Overseeing a large class of 25+ students — your work centers on smaller reading groups where each student receives individualized attention
  • Adhering to a fixed, commercial curriculum — you create your own instructional sessions informed by live student data
  • Supervising esports or teaching social-emotional skills — your role is a literacy specialist, concentrated entirely on reading development
  • Struggling against outdated pedagogical models — this institution was purpose-built around adaptive tools and learner engagement

Educational Technology Specialist Key Responsibilities

  • 2+ years of experience providing small-group reading instruction to K-2 students or learners with reading difficulties
