Job Description

The Consulate General of Israel in Toronto is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to fill a full-time Public Relations Officer position.

This is a full-time position supporting the Consulate's public diplomacy mandate — building awareness, fostering community relationships, and representing Israel's presence across the region.

Roles and Responsibilities

The precise range of duties will vary over time according to the needs of the Consulate, but will include the following:

  • Develop and implement public relations and communications strategies to enhance the visibility and image of the Consulate;
  • Manage the Consulate's social media platforms and digital communications, including drafting and publishing content in a timely and professional manner;
  • Monitor and analyze social media performance metrics, preparing regular reports on reach, engagement and audience growth;
  • Draft press releases, speeches, briefing materials, newsletters and other communication products as required;
  • Build and maintain relationships with local media outlets, journalists, and relevant stakeholders;
  • Assist in the planning, coordination and promotion of Consulate events, cultural initiatives, official visits and public diplomacy activities;
  • Monitor local media coverage and prepare media summaries and reports for Consulate staff;
  • Support diplomatic staff in outreach initiatives and public engagement efforts;
  • Coordinate branding and communication materials, ensuring consistency with Consulate messaging and policies;
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to take on additional responsibilities that may be assigned by the Consulate from time to time.

Essential Requirements:

  • The candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, working effectively in a team environment while engaging with external organizations and stakeholders;
  • The candidate must demonstrate creativity, flexibility, efficiency, strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure and multitask;
  • The candidate should possess strong writing and presentation skills, as well as the ability to develop compelling public messaging;
  • An academic degree is required, preferably in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or a related field.
  • The candidate must be fully fluent in English;
  • The candidate must be proficient in digital tools and platforms, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Canva, and social media platforms.

Job Type: Full time, in-person position — Office located downtown Toronto.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
