Job Description
About Open Owl Studios
Open Owl Studios is an independent board game publisher based in Kelowna, BC. We publish titles including Mythwind, Storyfold (Wildwoods), and Stonesaga. Our games reach players worldwide through crowdfunding, DTC, and a growing network of distribution and retail partners.
About the role
You'll own the operational backbone that moves Open Owl's games from factory to fan. That means running logistics and fulfillment for every release and reprint, managing global inventory, partnering on reprint forecasting, and driving sales into our distribution and retail channels. You'll work directly with our 3PLs, factories, and distribution partners, and you'll be the internal point person keeping releases on track from freight booking through retail sell-in.
What you'll own
Logistics & Fulfillment
- Freight coordination for all new releases and reprints
- Fulfillment setup across our 3PL network
- Crowdfunding shipping estimates for upcoming campaigns
- Pledge manager setup for campaigns
- Approval on all logistics invoices
- Factory interfacing on production schedules, QC issues, and shipping timelines
- 3PL relationship management across 6 global warehouses, including ongoing evaluation and onboarding of new partners
Inventory & Forecasting
- Inventory tracking across all SKUs, warehouses, and channels
- Reprint decisions and production forecasting in partnership with the Head of Studio, informed by sales velocity, campaign pipeline, and channel demand
- Localization quantity planning and release coordination across language editions
- Ownership of Open Owl's product data system
Distribution & Retailer Sales
- Receiving and processing all distribution purchase orders (Asmodee, Universal, VR, SGG, GTS, Avant, and future partners)
- Maintaining the tracking system for distribution PO quantities and fulfillment status
- Retailer sales strategy and execution for new releases
- Ongoing relationship management with existing distribution partners
- Proactively developing new distributor, retailer, and specialty channel relationships to expand Open Owl's reach
Systems & Documentation
- Maintaining contact lists and shared credentials for logistics, distribution, factory, and 3PL contacts
- Keeping operational documentation current so nothing lives in one person's head
What we're looking for
- 5+ years in logistics, operations, or supply chain roles
- Direct experience managing 3PL relationships and international fulfillment
- Strong comfort with spreadsheets, inventory systems, and lightweight operational tooling
- Systems-minded: you default to building repeatable processes over one-off fixes
- Comfortable with outbound relationship-building, not just processing existing accounts
- Comfortable operating with minimal oversight on a small team
- Clear written communicator; this role coordinates across factories, 3PLs, distributors, and internal team
Strong pluses
- Tabletop games, toys, collectibles, or similar physical-product CPG experience
- Crowdfunding fulfillment experience (Kickstarter, Gamefound, BackerKit)
- Sales experience with hobby or specialty retail distribution (Asmodee, GTS, and the broader game trade)
- Experience with Shopify, ShipStation, or similar DTC/fulfillment tooling
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary:
$75,000 to $100,000 CAD, commensurate with experience
- Discretionary year-end performance bonus
based on company and individual performance
- Paid time off:
3 weeks vacation, plus a paid office closure the week of Christmas
- Extended health, dental, and paramedical benefits
Logistics
- Location:
Remote within Canada
- Type:
Full-time, salaried
- Reports to:
Head of Studio
- Start date:
