Billing Specialist

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Billing Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end billing processes, ensuring accurate invoicing, timely account reconciliation, and compliance with financial standards. Responsibilities

• Oversee daily billing operations
• Monitoring timely claim submission
• Resolving & correcting claim denials and claim rejection
• Ensuring timely payment posting and follow up
• Maintaining payer compliance
• Confirm CPT and diagnosis codes are correct.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD 10 codes
• Remain up to date on coding changes
• Addressing complex billing issues and patient questions
• Handles patient’s complaints
• Providing regular updates on billing performance and outstanding accounts to the Office Manager
• Supports staff training
• Identifies opportunities to improve billing efficiency
• Review the patient's account and process billing
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
• Review patient balance and send a statement if applicable
• Review and process aging reports
• Document all billing actions in the patient's chart.
• Follow up on any outstanding issues with the insurance company or patient.
• Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with strong knowledge of corporate accounting principles and governmental accounting standards
• Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Workday, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro or similar platforms
• Familiarity with technical accounting concepts including journal entries, double entry bookkeeping, balance sheet reconciliation, and account analysis
• Strong numeracy skills with the ability to perform Excel data analysis and work efficiently with spreadsheets
• Excellent attention to detail for accurate data entry and account reconciliation tasks
• Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and professionally
• Experience working with accounts receivable management, payroll management, or non-profit accounting is a plus
• Strong organizational skills combined with effective communication to support customer service needs and internal teams
