Senior Software Engineer (Data Analytics)

Our client is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to play a foundational role in a newly created engineering team. This position offers the unique opportunity to join at the ground level, helping shape the team's technical direction, best practices, and long-term architecture.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Engineering, you'll have significant visibility and influence while working on business-critical initiatives that power the organization's data infrastructure. This is not a traditional .NET development role. Instead, you'll leverage your C# expertise to design and build scalable ETL pipelines, optimize SQL-based data processing, and develop solutions that support high-volume financial data workflows. Candidates with experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries are strongly preferred.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines using C#/.NET and SQL Server.
• Build robust data ingestion, transformation, and loading processes for large financial datasets.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views.
• Tune database performance and optimize ETL workflows for speed and reliability.
• Partner with business stakeholders and engineering leadership to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across multiple systems.
• Participate in architecture discussions and help establish engineering standards for this newly formed team.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews and technical design decisions.

Required Qualifications:

• 5-8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on C#/.NET development experience.
• Strong SQL Server expertise, including: complex SQL development, stored procedures, views and functions, query optimization and performance tuning
• Experience building and maintaining ETL or data integration pipelines.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and data modeling.
• Experience working with large-scale, data-intensive systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within financial services, banking, asset management, insurance, fintech, or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience with SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or other ETL tools.
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts.
• Experience with Azure and cloud-based data platforms.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and Agile development practices.
