Co-op program overview

The 13-week Cognizant Co-op this Spring / Summer is more than just an average work term. Forget business as usual. We pursue some of the world’s most exciting, groundbreaking technologies; inspired solutions that improve the lives of millions across the globe. Our workplace thrives on ideas and opportunities. What you’ll do

During your co-op with Cognizant, you will:

Learn:

your journey begins with 6-weeks of customized, world class training in areas such as GenAI, Python, Java/.Net Full Stack. Upon completion, you will not only be ready to apply these skills to a real-world challenge at Cognizant, but you’ll also be able leverage this experience to succeed in the classroom, and beyond.

Code:

along with other top Canadian students, you will join our virtual AI Lab and work on building an exciting proof of concept by designing the architecture, preparing a detailed design and prototyping a solution where possible. Your project will culminate in a capstone project presentation to our Leadership team.

What you bring to the role

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field in your 2nd, 3rd or 4th / final year of studies.
• Ability to work full-time, 40-hour per week for 13-weeks for the duration of the co-op from May – Aug 2026
• Some experience in solution architecture, software engineering, or related field is preferred but not required
• Knowledge of cloud technologies, such as AWS or Azure, is a plus.
• Familiarity with software design patterns, data patterns, and database design
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Total compensation

We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The salary for this position is CAD $25.00 per hour, 40 hours per week .

Working arrangements

At Cognizant, we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible, and we are here to support a healthy work-life balance though our various wellbeing programs. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in

Halifax, Nova Scotia or Mississauga, Ontario
