Job description
About the job
This role is being recruited by CoffeeSpace on behalf of a high-growth, seed-stage vertical SaaS startup building the operating system for modern hospitality teams.
We’re identifying a small number of exceptional senior full-stack engineers from our network.
If there’s a strong fit, we’ll introduce you directly to the founding team.
Location: New York City, NY, 4–5 days per week in office
Compensation: $160K–$240K base + competitive equity
Employment type: Full-time
Visa: H-1B transfers available for candidates already in the U.S.
Relocation: Support available for candidates willing to move to NYC
About the company
This company is building a property operations platform for modern hospitality operators, including short-term rental companies and boutique hotels managing thousands of units.
The platform helps operators manage guest check-ins, smart devices, field teams, analytics, payments, guest screening, upsells, and integrations with core property management systems.
The company has strong product-market fit, tripled revenue last year, and is targeting growth from roughly $1.2M to $5M ARR. They have raised $4.5M across seed and bridge funding and are targeting a Series A in early 2026.
The team is small, high-ownership, and AI-forward. They use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot heavily in their daily engineering workflow, including multi-agent development practices.
About the role
This is a senior full-stack engineering role with a player-coach leadership component.
You’ll spend most of your time building, not managing, while also helping lead a small team of engineers, set the technical quality bar, and define patterns the rest of the engineering team will inherit.
The company is currently in the middle of a clean-room rebuild from a legacy no-code platform to a modern TypeScript monorepo. That means you will not just be maintaining an existing system. You will help define the new architecture, backend services, database patterns, frontend surfaces, and engineering workflows from the ground up.
This is a rare moment to join: the product has already proven demand, but the technical foundation is being rebuilt now.
Why this role is remarkable:
- Join at a high-leverage inflection point: the company has strong traction, tripled revenue last year, and is targeting roughly 4x ARR growth while rebuilding its core platform into a modern TypeScript system
- Own meaningful architecture from day one, including the migration from a legacy no-code platform to a hand-crafted TypeScript monorepo with NestJS, React, PostgreSQL, Prisma, and end-to-end type safety
- Operate as a true player-coach: lead and mentor a small engineering team while still spending the majority of your time shipping production code, reviewing architecture, and building full vertical slices end to end
- Work in an AI-native engineering environment where Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, and multi-agent workflows are treated as core parts of how the team builds, not side experiments or novelty tools
- Build software that coordinates real-world hospitality operations across smart locks, payments, property management systems, mobile workflows, guest experiences, and high-frequency operational data
What you will do:
- Ship full vertical slices across the stack, including schema migrations, backend services, APIs, frontend components, and operational workflows in a TypeScript monorepo
- Help drive the clean-room rebuild from the legacy platform into a scalable, maintainable, production-grade system
- Lead and mentor a small team of 3–5 engineers through code review, architecture guidance, pairing, and technical decision-making
- Set engineering standards for quality, reliability, maintainability, AI-assisted development, and end-to-end ownership
- Build integrations with complex third-party systems, including property management systems, smart locks, payment processors, and telemetry pipelines
- Design for a multi-region, data-residency-sensitive product serving hospitality operators across large portfolios
- Use AI coding agents deeply in your daily workflow, including Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, and multi-agent development patterns
The ideal candidate:
- Has 5+ years of production full-stack TypeScript / JavaScript engineering experience, ideally with a backend lean
- Has hands-on experience with TypeScript, NestJS, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, and modern monorepo architecture
- Has led engineers before, ideally for 2+ years, with a player-coach mentality rather than a pure management orientation
- Has built production B2B SaaS applications end to end and understands what it means to own features through both implementation and failure modes
- Has experience with system migrations, platform rebuilds, or scaling engineering foundations at an early-stage startup
- Uses AI coding agents heavily in daily work and can clearly explain concrete workflows, including how they run multiple agents or use AI to increase engineering output
- Has strong relational database fundamentals, including schema design, migrations, query optimization, and production data modeling
- Communicates clearly, takes ownership, and can make autonomous technical decisions in a fast-moving startup environment
Nice to have
- Experience at a seed to Series B startup where technology is the core product
- Experience in vertical SaaS, hospitality, proptech, operations software, or field-team tooling
- Experience with React Native, Next.js App Router, Turborepo, Prisma, row-level security, background job queues, edge computing, IoT telemetry, event pipelines, or offline-first mobile systems
- Longer tenures at past roles, ideally 2–3+ years, or clear explanations for shorter stints
This role is not for you if:
- You want to be a full-time people manager rather than a hands-on builder
- You prefer clearly scoped tickets over ambiguous, end-to-end ownership
- You are not excited about working in person in NYC 4–5 days per week
- You do not use AI coding tools seriously in your day-to-day engineering workflow
- You prefer large-company process over early-stage ownership and speed
Next steps:
- Apply via this LinkedIn job post
- We will review and reach out if there is a strong match
- If aligned, we will introduce you directly to the founding team
- If this role is not the right fit, we may suggest and make introductions to other high-signal startup roles we are actively recruiting for, always with your permission
A quick note on authenticity:
This is a real, active role we are supporting in close partnership with the hiring team. We do not post speculative roles and work closely with teams on their actual hiring needs.
