Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (L3) to manage enterprise database environments, ensuring high availability, performance optimization, and operational excellence. The role involves handling complex DBA activities, automation, troubleshooting, and providing 24×7 support while guiding team members and coordinating with global stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities: Provide end-to-end SQL Server database administration and act as escalation support. Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and migrate databases. Design and implement high availability solutions (clustering, replication, log shipping, Always On). Perform database cloning, refresh, cleanup, and decommissioning activities. Manage database capacity planning, RAID configuration, and large-scale environments. Monitor database performance (sessions, locks, deadlocks, logs, jobs, transactions). Perform query tuning, indexing, and statistics optimization. Manage database security (users, roles, privileges, access controls). Execute backup and recovery strategies and conduct DR drills. Perform database maintenance (reindexing, defragmentation, integrity checks). Monitor space utilization, database growth, and resource contention. Troubleshoot issues such as slow performance, connectivity problems, and failures. Generate periodic database health and performance reports. Automate DBA activities using scripting and tools like Ansible. Work with SSIS and SSRS for data integration and reporting. Ensure adherence to ITIL processes (incident, change, problem management). Maintain documentation and transition management artifacts. Provide 24×7 on-call support in rotational shifts.
VMware (Secondary Skill): Administer VMware technologies including vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, SRM, and Update Manager. Manage HA, DRS clusters, resource pools, and virtual infrastructure performance. Perform installation, configuration, and patching of ESXi environments. Troubleshoot L3-level VMware issues and handle critical escalations with RCA. Work with tools like vRealize Operations, Log Insight, and Network Insight. Manage backup and recovery solutions (Veeam, NetBackup, BackupExec, etc.). Configure virtual networking, storage, and SAN integrations. Automate VMware deployments and ensure security compliance.
Qualifications and Skills:
Technical Skills (Must Have): 6+ years of SQL Server DBA experience Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2008–2022) Strong knowledge of database architecture, indexing, filegroups, and memory structures Hands-on experience in high availability (clustering, log shipping, replication, Always On) Strong SQL query tuning and performance optimization skills Experience in backup and recovery strategies Experience in database upgrades, patching, and migration Knowledge of Windows OS, networking, and Active Directory Experience in scripting for automation (SQL/PowerShell) Strong understanding of ITIL processes and 24×7 support
Secondary Skills (Nice to Have): Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) Experience with automation tools like Ansible Knowledge of SSIS and SSRS Presales experience
