Construction Estimator

Job Description

City Hill Construction, Inc. is currently looking for a Project Estimator. We are a growing site work company in western NY, and we have an excellent opportunity for an Estimator to join our team of professionals. Prior experience is highly preferred but not necessary. The ideal candidate will have some experience in construction project management, be organized, motivated, detail-oriented and driven. Your experience will determine your starting pay. Entry level position will be estimating our smaller residential projects and working into estimating larger projects as you gain the necessary skills required to bid larger commercial projects. If you have proven experience, we would be looking to have you start bidding some of our larger commercial projects right away.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers to discuss new or current projects
• Ensure timely completion of all estimates
• Explore documentation to gain a deep understanding of the project requirements
• Preform takeoffs from site plans
• Evaluate project spec book and other project documents
• Procure and evaluate vendor and sub-contractor prices
• Prepare detailed proposals for each job based on information provided
• Attend and participate in site walk through
• Cost tracking, procurement of materials and sub-contractors, reviewing contracts and contract documents, submittals, and change orders
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with key vendors
• Calculate, analyze, and adjust estimates

Skills

• Critical thinker
• Impeccable problem-solving skills
• Experience with B2W Estimate for estimating and Trimble Business Center or InSite for takeoffs, is a plus but not necessary
• Bachelor’s in Accounting, Applied Science, Civil Engineering, or related fields
• Effective communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Numerical skills and an analytical mindset

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to multi-task & meet strict deadlines
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Good time-management
• In depth knowledge of project management
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
• Attention to detail
• Must be self-motivated and willing to work a flexible schedule depending on what projects you are working on
• Must be personable and be able to work with customers and vendors with a professional and respectful manner
• The ability to read and decipher project plans and specs
• Must be proficient with computers and programs
• Experience with estimating and takeoff software is a plus.
• Represent the company in a professional and respectful manner
• Construction background is a plus If applying as an estimator with experience, we would prefer 5+ years of proven experience
